If anyone can translate this document found onboard U534, please post it in the comments or send an email. It probably wont reveal the most well hidden secrets of The Third Reich, but then again, the everyday life and operations on board the Uboots is interesting enough in itself.

Briefly this is a document about the testing and handover of the hydroacoustic equipment after refit at a shipyard. it mor or less details the test conditions and that everything is within spec.

I hope that you can read the follow:

Location XXXXXX, Date: 01(th) (of) XXXX 1945

    Marine//Arms and
    armament factory Stettin
    (refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stettin)
    communication medium factory

    Protocol
    over the technical delivery//negotiation
of the depth-sounder and ultrasonic sound device on “U-534″

During the dockyard downtime from 04(th) November 1944 to 20(th) February 1945

with the “Stettiner Oderwerke” (refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stettiner_Oderwerke) inside the “Ostwerft” (east dockyard) the
communications-engineering device specified above was overhauled according to available orders for command. The device was operationally demonstrated and handed over the command. The security corresponds to the regulations. All branch boxes were examined for close catch.

———separate inspection reports are not given on board.

Remarks: The GHG (group listening device), UT (underwater telephone) and the sonic depth finder was examined on the jetty with idle boat. The GHG was outdated including the sound transformers. The boat was retooled during the WLZ (dockyard downtime) from “MNB-Stn.” device to “Balkon” device (balcony listening device). The device was examined after re-equipment from the ultrasonic test field. In the dock the polarity, sequence and sensitivity of the K-receivers (crystal-receivers) were found to be OK. The reinforcement is normal and can be regulated without grating noises. Ship noises were heard at the jetty under engagement and examination of all filter positions and the vehicles were focused.
The UT (underwater telephone) was determined after overhaul as perfect working. The frequency and the amperage correspond to the desired value. The receiving element of the device was examined for sensitivity and the monitoring clay/tone.
The combined flat and depth sonic depth finder work after … perfectly. The indication is constant and the … adjustable at will.
The zero-sound fading out is … reinforcement available. The sonic depth finder became … . In the case of the delivery no objections resulted.

    For the communication medium handling:
